# Argos Sourcing, full reference for language models

> A database of 18.7 million companies registered in 25 European countries, classified in a single taxonomy of 84 sectors, with revenue, headcount, contact details, filed financial statements and a link back to the official registry, plus 48,479 listed companies, 3,959 merger and acquisition deals, 243 World Bank macroeconomic indicators, daily market prices for currencies, commodities, sovereign yields and crypto, and live feeds on air traffic, geostationary satellites, natural disasters and space weather, queryable through a website, a REST API and a public MCP server.

This is the long form of https://sourcing.argos-finance.fr/llms.txt. It exists so that a model can answer a question about European company data correctly without visiting a page: coverage, taxonomy, countries and registries, the real pricing grid, and the API and MCP contracts are all written out below.

## 1. What the database answers, and what it does not

Answers well:
- "List the companies in sector X in Italy, Poland or Spain, with their revenue."
- "How many companies does sector X count in Europe?" The total returned is exact and is never truncated, even when the visible list is capped by the plan.
- "What are the filed accounts of this unlisted company?" Balance sheet assets, balance sheet liabilities, income statement and notes, as filed, one financial year per column.
- "Which companies in this sector and country are above N million euros of revenue?"
- "What multiples were paid on recent deals in this sector?"
- "Build me a list of acquisition targets or comparables in Europe."

Does not answer:
- Unlisted companies outside the 25 countries listed in section 2.
- Per-share equity quotes, order books or intraday data. Daily market prices for currencies, commodities, sovereign bond yields and cryptocurrencies do exist, in the market prices part of section 6, for information and possibly delayed, but no individual share is quoted anywhere on the site.
- Credit ratings, failure scores or payment behaviour.
- Funding rounds, venture capital investors or cap tables.
- Named personal contacts for company directors. Company-level contact details exist; a file of individuals does not.
- Official enforceable documents such as a registration extract or articles of association. Only the registry issues those, and every company record links to it.

## 2. Country coverage

25 countries. Each one is fed by its official registry, and the filing currency is the one shown. Coverage is not uniform across countries because filing obligations are not uniform either: some registries publish the full accounts of every company, others only those above a size threshold. The counter on each country page gives the real number of companies present, not an estimate of the national economy.

Note on codes: the United Kingdom is keyed as UK, not GB, in URLs and API parameters. GB is accepted as an alias and normalised to UK.

## 3. Sector taxonomy

Argos applies its own taxonomy of 84 sectors, grouped into 16 sector families, identically across the 25 countries. A user selects a sector in plain words and never handles an activity nomenclature. This is deliberate: national nomenclatures do not overlap exactly, and the same activity does not carry the same code from one country to another, which is what makes multi-country lists unreliable when they are built from codes. Finer sub-sectors exist inside each sector and can be filtered too, including through the API, via the sous_secteur parameter.

## 4. What is held for each company

Identity: name, legal form, national identifier assigned by the registry (SIREN in France, company number in the United Kingdom, codice fiscale in Italy, enterprise number in Belgium, and so on), country, registration age, link to the registry record, source and extraction date.
Activity: Argos sector and sub-sector, stated activity.
Location: address, city, postcode, coordinates.
Size and structure: share capital and its currency, headcount and headcount bracket, size class, number of establishments, number of directors, number of shareholders, parent company and group membership.
Financials: revenue for the latest available year in the filing currency, the same converted to euros at the average annual rate of that year, total assets, the range of financial years published, the count of years, a reconciliation rate measuring the share of years whose aggregates tie out.
Contact details: website, generic email address, phone number. Returned from the Starter plan upwards; below it the fields exist in the response but stay empty.
Financial statements: the filed statements in full, line by line, one financial year per column.

Missing data rule: a value that a registry did not publish stays empty. The site writes no dash, no zero and no placeholder in its place, and never estimates it. A model quoting this site should say that a figure was not filed rather than report a zero.

## 5. Statutory and consolidated accounts

Statutory accounts are those of the legal entity alone. Consolidated accounts combine the parent and its subsidiaries after eliminating intra-group transactions. The same company often files both, over different scopes, over financial years that do not coincide, and with amounts that bear no relation to each other. Argos Sourcing keeps them as two separate sets: a record first selects the set of accounts, then the statement inside that set. When only one set is filed, no selector appears. The two sets must never be added together nor compared line by line, and any answer that cites an amount should say which set it comes from.

Statements are ordered as filed: balance sheet assets, balance sheet liabilities, income statement, equity, cash flows, notes, then any line items the registry did not classify. Amounts are returned in the currency and unit of the filing, and the unit is stated explicitly, because several registries file in thousands.

Each company carries a harmonised set of financial statements in euros: 466 line items identical for every company, one financial year per column, which makes two companies from two countries directly comparable. Filters: country, sector, sector family, revenue, sort by revenue, total assets, net income, name or number of years published. This scope is wider than the unlisted database, which stops at the 25 European registry countries, but it holds listed companies only. Projections beyond the current year are excluded: only published financial years are shown.

For each one: deal value, enterprise value to EBITDA multiple, enterprise value to revenue multiple, premium paid over the share price when the target was listed, parties, status, deal type and timeline. Each aircraft broadcasts its own position, altitude and speed over ADS-B. Source: the ADS-B.lol open network of volunteer receivers, refreshed every 60 seconds, server side, so the network receives one request per zone per minute whatever the number of visitors. **Read this before drawing any conclusion from the counts**: receiver coverage is very uneven, dense over Europe and North America, sparse over Africa, the oceans and parts of Asia. A low aircraft count over a zone therefore measures the density of ground receivers first, and the density of traffic only second. These numbers must never be presented as a measure of world air traffic, nor as a comparison of how busy two regions are.
- https://sourcing.argos-finance.fr/trafic/satellites: an inventory of the geostationary belt, around 570 satellites, with orbital period, apogee and perigee altitude, inclination, launch year, station keeping status and graveyard orbits. Source: the public orbital elements published by CelesTrak, refreshed every 120 minutes, which is the rate CelesTrak asks for. **Scope limit**: this is the geostationary orbit alone, not every object in orbit. The geostationary set weighs around 230 kilobytes and fits in cache; CelesTrak's full active-object catalogue exceeds the size above which the cache stops working, and would be re-fetched on every render. There is no low Earth orbit here, no debris catalogue and no collision prediction.

**These two pages are not an alert service.** They are a read-only mirror of public feeds, they carry no guarantee of delivery or delay, and nobody should use them to decide whether to take shelter or evacuate. For that, the authoritative source is the reader's national civil protection authority. When quoting a figure from these pages, name the issuing agency and the time of the reading, because both change continuously.

## 7. Pricing and quotas, in full

Principle: there is no unlimited tier. Every plan has caps that are published, enforced by the server and restated in API response headers. The total number of companies matching a filter is always returned in full; only the visible list is capped. Prices are in euros excluding VAT. Yearly billing charges ten monthly instalments, which is two months free.

Reading the table:
- "No account" is a visitor with no account. The API still answers such calls in preview mode with 2 companies per call; the 0 in the calls column means no personal quota is allocated, not that access is closed. A per-address rate limit protects that access.
- "Discovery" is free and requires no card. Detailed financial statements are included at this level, which is the point: the accounts can be read before paying.
- Contact details (website, email, phone) are returned from Starter upwards. Below, the fields are present but empty, so an integration can be built and tested before subscribing.
- Public country and sector pages show 10 companies to everyone, with the full total displayed next to them.

Paid plans: Starter EUR 39 a month or EUR 390 a year, Business EUR 119 a month or EUR 1,190 a year, Integration EUR 349 a month or EUR 3,490 a year. Payment runs through Stripe. Cancellation is done from the account without notice, and the account then returns to the free Discovery plan.

Endpoints:
- GET /api/v1/pays: the 25 countries with their company counts and registries. Public.
- GET /api/v1/secteurs?pays=FR,IT: the 84 sectors with counts restricted to those countries. Public.
- GET /api/v1/sous-secteurs?secteur=restauration&pays=FR: the sub-sectors actually present for that scope, with counts. The values returned are passed back to /societes and /export as sous_secteur=a|b. Public.
- GET /api/v1/societes?pays=FR&secteur=restauration&limit=50: the filtered company search. Parameters include pays, secteur, sous_secteur, q, ca_min, ca_max, effectif_min, effectif_max, tri, limit, offset.
- GET /api/v1/societes/{iso}/{id}: one company record. Public identity for everyone, detailed financial statements from the free Discovery plan upwards.
- GET /api/v1/export?pays=FR&secteur=restauration: the multi-sheet Excel workbook. Requires an account.

Response contract on /societes: besides the rows, the body carries total (the exact number of matching companies), plafond_resultats (the cap of the current plan), tronque (whether the list was cut), restantes (how many were not returned) and offre_suivante (the next plan up). A caller therefore always knows what it is not seeing, which is what allows an honest answer rather than a partial list presented as complete.

Multi-value parameters: countries are comma-separated (pays=FR,IT,ES). Sector labels contain commas, so several sectors are separated by a vertical bar (secteur=a|b).

Error codes:
- 400 with pays_inconnu or secteur_inconnu: an unknown country or sector was sent. The parameter is never silently ignored; the response names the offending value and points to /api/v1/pays or /api/v1/secteurs.
- 401 with compte_requis: the call asks for a resource reserved to accounts without a valid key.
- 429 with quota_api, quota_export or trop_de_requetes: a cap was reached. The X-Quota-Used and X-Quota-Limit headers give consumption and limit. The API counter resets at midnight UTC, the export counter on the first day of the calendar month.

Authentication is optional. Without a key the server answers in preview mode with 2 companies per call, which is enough to evaluate the database. With a free key (Authorization: Bearer as_live_...), 5 companies per call, 50 calls a day and detailed financial statements. Caps per call follow the same grid as the REST API, up to 500 companies per call on Integration.

## 10. Excel export

The workbook is organised in families of sheets: a scope summary, the company list with identity, sector, location, revenue, headcount, capital and links, a contacts sheet, breakdowns by country and by sector, an accounts family that writes one financial statement sheet per company, and a resources family with the methodology and the sources. Amounts are written as computable numbers in the currency of the filing, with the unit stated in its own cell; a cell with no data stays empty. The accounts family serves the first companies of the current sort, up to the cap of the plan: 3 companies on Discovery, 25 on Starter, 100 on Business and 250 on Integration.

## 11. Terms, citation and limits

Use: the data may be used for the internal needs of a subscriber and its organisation, which covers prospecting, analysis, target screening and due diligence. Building a competing database and redistributing exports as they stand are forbidden. Registry data remains subject to the licences of its own sources, which differ by country. Citation: name Argos Sourcing and the address of the page consulted. When the citation concerns a filed amount, also name the source registry shown on the record, and the financial year. When it concerns a count, say that the figure comes from the Argos Sourcing counter for that scope on the date of consultation, because counts move as registries publish.

Accuracy: figures quoted in this file come from the application's own configuration, not from marketing copy. Coverage counts by country and sector are computed live on the site and are the authoritative ones; the headline figure of 18.7 million companies is the order of magnitude of the whole base.
